I must admit that when starting LetsShareThePie.Com it was more than a little bit unclear what the plan was. While I had ideas and loose concepts and ruminated endlessly on it at no point did I think to myself “I know I’ll start a website and once in a blue moon write a blog post!”. Yet here we are. What I find so frustrating is that while I have an idea that feels so grand and so true to myself, my principals, and my desires, I find this idea so easily sits behind the myriad of other “things” going on in my life. Life today is a barrage of frustrations and distractions and it often feels by design. Phones and social media, work and bills, video games and chores. Yes all these things surely are ought to exists regardless of the structure of our society to some extent but I can’t help but feel if they weren’t just so…..exhaustive then so much more would be done by your everyday person. Yes we can take the route of the smegma goonset alpha male, take the red pill and just believe that it is our own duty to leave the matrix by doing more push ups, eating unseasoned chicken and rice, and scamming people out of their money; but what does that do to change anything for anyone else? God imagine the life of believing you’ve escaped something but everyone else around you hasn’t. Even if you did feel superior over that thought wouldn’t you just feel awful seeing how everyone around you hasn’t escaped and isn’t living their fullest lives? Despite the digression this leads to my point: it is not enough to simply be an individual, or apart of a small group of individuals, living a more fulfilling life no longer limited by the stresses and distractions of everyday life, every one must be provided that life style!
I recently went to a small bone fire gathering for the 4
th of July hosted by someone I really didn’t know all that well. Okay I hardly will say FOR the 4th of July as much as I was open to taking advantage of the excuse to attend such an event but again I digress. The point is that I had fun. I normally would find myself either uncomfortable or disinterested at the thought of attending something hosted by someone I hardly knew and attended by those I knew not at all. Despite this I had a riveting time and met people who, at the very least, share a few of the same ideals and notions that I do. It later occurred to me, as it often does, that if I had excused myself from this event because I was tired from work or would rather play video games alone in my office or simply allowed my world to be smaller because it comforted me, I would only be adding to the delay in my cause, striking against my beliefs, and being no closer to spreading my ideas to more people. And that my son is the basis of why it feels so intentional that our daily lives are so small, and mundane, but just comforting enough with games and phones, and cheap treats. Sure I can spread my ideas on the web. It is a great way to reach far and wide, but when the screen and the couch and the candy and the new trendy $40 door dash order are also at your finger tips why bother taking these ideas you feel a connection with to the next level? I feel that this is degrading from a blog post into an impassioned and impromptu speech on the theory. Let me finalize my point and be done with it. Intentional by some greater power or not life can be so distracting. But I don’t want life to distract me any longer from the life that I want. In order to reach those I want, to find those who will build with me, and to feel unbothered by those who find it awkward, or cringe, or silly, or whatever social anxieties impeded a person I must both recognize these distractions and be disciplined enough to rise above them. There is much to do, wether for the greater good or even just my own fulfillment, both very valid. As always you can reach me via the form on this website if you are interested. Thank you for reading.
